Microneedling Q&A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a noninvasive cosmetic procedure that stimulates collagen and elastin production in the skin to improve its tone, texture, and overall appearance. At North Texas Med360, the providers use the Eclipse MicroPen™ EVO  —  a sophisticated device that works by creating tiny micro-injuries in the skin's surface.

These micro-injuries trigger the body's natural healing process, leading to the formation of fresher, more radiant, and youthful-looking skin. The Eclipse MicroPen EVO is equipped with 14 adjustable needles that can be tailored to match your personal goals and needs.

The microneedling at North Texas Med360 uses precise control to optimize results.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

Microneedling offers so many benefits for your skin, and can significantly improve the appearance of:

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Acne Scars
  • Stretch Marks
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Skin Texture
  • Age Spots
  • Enlarged Pores
  • Lost Elasticity
  • Sun Damage

This treatment can improve skin texture, tone, and elasticity by stimulating collagen and elastin production, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Additionally, the micro-channels created during microneedling enhance the absorption of skincare products, allowing for greater efficacy of creams, serums, and gels.

What is microneedling with PRP?

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a compound derived from a sample of your own blood. This blood, acquired through a traditional blood draw, is treated to amplify the platelet content. Platelets contain numerous growth and repair factors that improve skin health.

When PRP is applied alongside microneedling, it accelerates cellular repair and healing, resulting in incredible skin rejuvenation.

How many microneedling treatments are needed, and when will I see results?

The number of microneedling treatments needed varies depending on personal factors, such as skin condition and treatment goals. Many clients typically see noticeable improvement after just one treatment with the Eclipse MicroPen.

For optimal results, your provider may recommend a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart.

Is microneedling painful?

Most patients find microneedling quite tolerable. Before the procedure, your provider applies a topical numbing cream to minimize discomfort.

During the treatment, you may feel a mild sensation of pressure or tingling as the device passes over the skin. Any discomfort is typically temporary and subsides quickly after the treatment.
